Vill ja sall grew out of a love of handwork. We bring together the two things we value most: the long tradition of the genuine Haapsalu shawl, and the quality of the finest Italian yarn. The result is something you can wear yourself or give to someone you love.
Every shawl is knitted by hand by experienced makers. Every yarn is chosen with care. Our pieces carry warmth in both senses of the word.

My passion for handwork runs back through several generations. I build on Estonian craft heritage and work with natural materials, so that every piece has a story of its own.

The Haapsalu shawl is the crown of Estonian handwork. It is fine enough to pass through a ring and strong enough to be handed down through generations. The tradition goes back to the 19th century, when the women of Haapsalu began knitting fine lace.
Today the Haapsalu shawl is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. That recognition speaks for itself. Every shawl we sell is knitted with respect for that tradition.
